Lisa Casias, CPA
Deputy Chief Financial Officer and Director for Financial Management
U.S. Department of Commerce
Ms. Casias serves as the Deputy Chief Financial
Officer and Director for Financial Management. As Deputy CFO, she is
responsible for financial management and accounting throughout the
Department, for preparation of the Department’s annual consolidated
financial statements, and for development and implementation of a
Department-wide integrated financial system. Her responsibilities
include promulgating financial management policy throughout the
Department and for ensuring the Department’s compliance with financial
management laws and regulations, including the Chief Financial Officers’
Act, the Government Management Reform Act, the Government Performance
and Results Act and the Federal Financial Management Improvement Act.
Ms. Casias is also responsible for the Office of Secretary budget
operations.
Immediately preceding her assignment as Deputy CFO,
Ms. Casias served as Deputy Director for Financial Policy in the Office
of Financial Management. Previously, Ms. Casias was the Deputy
Assistant Inspector General for Financial Statements Audits in the
Department’s Office of Inspector General. She began her career in the
OIG in November 1991. Ms. Casias was responsible for conducting the
financial statement audits of the Department through her own staff and
independent public accountants. Her responsibilities also included
monitoring the Department’s implementation of financial management
systems. Ms. Casias also worked with the Department and its bureaus in
its efforts to implement the Government Performance and Results Act.
Prior to her federal government career, Ms. Casias
was an audit supervisor with the international public accounting firm of
Ernst & Young.
Ms. Casias is a Certified Public Accountant and
holds her BBA in public accounting from Pace University.
